There’s nothing quite like playoff football in Michigan. Under the November lights, where the cold air hangs heavy and every down feels like destiny, I had the privilege of covering the 2024 MHSAA Division 7 Region 1 Finals — a game built on grit, heart, and hometown pride.

From the opening kickoff to the final whistle, this game had it all: hard hits, breakout plays, and momentum swings that kept the crowd on edge. But beyond the scoreboard, what stood out to me was the emotion — seniors playing like it might be their last snap, coaches living every second on the sidelines, and fans bundled up, living and breathing every yard gained or lost.

Capturing football is more than freezing fast action — it’s about telling the full story. I focused on those in-between moments: helmet taps between teammates, the focused stillness before a critical 4th down, and the raw energy when the underdog pushed back. Every image I took that night aimed to reflect the passion that fuels high school football.
